Getting started

It’s been a good last couple of days! It’s been a bit on the hot side but it’s all good.

We have been struggling to get something going, so just these last couple of days we have been knocking on a lot of doors like trying to clean out the area book and visiting less actives. Finally we knocked on the door of this one lady who hadn’t been active in a while, but said her 12-year old daughter was starting to ask questions about church. So we made an appointment to come back and teach her.

The other day we saw a girl sitting on the sidewalk reading a book. At first we thought she might be too young, but we went over anyways. She said to us that she had always wondered what we did and we explained everything. She said her fiancé’s co-worker was Mormon. She took a copy of the Book of Mormon and said she was going to go to church! She lived outside our area, but gave us her information to give to the missionaries in her area. It was cool because the timing was perfect again.

We also went to this barbeque the other night and we got our investigator Melissa to go. She had a blast! She brought her 5-year old grandson who is amazing. They both just got along with everyone. So we are excited to teach her again.

And then this dude John we taught last night committed to be baptized on July 28th! So, that could be my first baptism, which would be awesome!

So it’s like all of our hard work is paying off and there are so many other things that have been happening!

The ward mission leader in one of our wards has been really busy, so we haven’t been able to work with him much. He called us last night to let us know how proud he was of our hard work and that we are inspiring him to do more! That news is huge because member involvement is so important!

It’s just so amazing out here and it’s funny because you don’t really see how amazing it is until you look back on your week and see all that’s happened, like the classes and lessons that we’ve taught, and seeing the change in people and see them gain that desire to change, the opportunities to give priesthood blessings to people, and hearing about people’s lives and telling them about how the gospel of Jesus Christ can help improve their situation. I love this gospel so much and having this opportunity to share it with all those I come in contact with.

I guess I learned this week that whenever you are working hard and you think that it’s all been for nothing to know that Heavenly Father is always watching us and will bless us for our obedience in His own time and I’m so thankful for these blessings in my life!
